The finished table and bench in my grad school apartment

This table and bench were designed as the focal point of my apartment as I entered grad school. Meant to hold eight people comfortably, the table has acted as a place of gathering, study, work, experimentation, eating, cooking, and creativity. Five rough beech boards were seamlessly merged together with biscuit joints and mounted on hairpin legs.
The five rough boards were selected and then cut down in length
Using a biscuit joinery tool to add slots in the wood planks of the table
To ensure a seamless table top, I used a saw to cut a small groove along each seam; those grooves were filed with small tapered filets of wood
